Preamble: This Act will protect our nation from foreign interference by requiring News Companies to register as businesses within the Isles.
1. Registration:
(a) All News and Media production companies must have a registered company in-game.
(i) The listed owner of this company must be either the Owner, Majority Shareholder, or a lawyer who is an employee of the company.
(ii) If the company is a subsidiary of another, the listed owner must be either the hired Manager, the Owner, the Majority Shareholder, or a lawyer who is an employee of the company.
(b) There shall be a 4 week grace period from the bills ratification to allow time for these companies to be formed.
2. Authorship Requirements:
(a) All published articles must feature the name of the author at the beginning or end of the article
(i) Co-authored pieces must feature the names of all contributors.
(b) All published articles must feature the name of the registered company if it goes by a different name than the titular brand name.
3. Enforcement:
(a) Failure to comply with Section 1 will result in a $3000 penalty.
(i) There will be an additional $500 penalty per article issued in previous 14 days from the lack of registration coming to light.
(b) Failure to comply with Section 2 will result in a $1000 penalty per offending article.
(c) These penalties are not criminal in nature and shall be handled jointly by the Ministry of Events and Culture and the Ministry of State.
Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon passage.
