Type: Act of Parliament
Preamble: Numerous citizens put great time and effort into making Azalea the finest nation in the world. This act recognises their efforts and establishes a new system of recognition.
1. Pride of Azalea Award
(a) At the end of a Parliamentary Term, the final act taken by each member of Parliament will be to nominate a candidate to receive the “Pride of Azalea Award”.
(i) Candidates may be chosen either for their work that term, or for historic efforts.
(ii) The candidate may not be somebody who served as Speaker, a Minister or Prime Minister during that term.
(iii) MPs can refuse their right to nominate a candidate.
(b) Parliament will vote on these candidates in a single-vote multiple choice poll.
(i) If the vote does not find a majority candidate, the vote shall repeat with the lowest place candidates being removed.
(c) In the event of an unbreakable tie, the Prime Minister shall be entitled to eliminate a single candidate from that stage of the vote.
(d) The winning individual will be granted the Pride of Azalea Award
(i) Recipients alone will be granted the use of Sir / Dame / Ser as an official prefix.
(ii) The winner shall be awarded $15,000.
(iii) MEC will commemorate each award in a manner of their own choosing.
2. Rescindment
(a) Those found guilty of Capitol Offences will be immediately stripped of their award, must return $7,500 of their award, and lose any right to be referred to by their honorific.
(b) Alternatively, Awards can be revoked by a Parliamentary Motion that passes with more than 80% of the vote.
Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon passage.
