Objective
The goal of Monopoly is to become the wealthiest player by buying, renting, and trading properties while bankrupting opponents. You can win by either having the most money after 2 hours, or by bankrupting everyone else.
Game Setup
1. Banker Selection: The event host will be the banker to handle money, property deeds, houses, and hotels.
2. Starting Money: Each player begins with $1000.
3. Player Tokens: Each player selects a custom furniture and places it on the "GO" space.
4. Turn Order: Players roll dice to determine who goes first. The highest roll starts, and play proceeds clockwise.
Game Setup
Each turn follows this sequence:
Property Rents and Houses
When you land on a property, you have to pay rent if someone owns it. Rent is based on colour and number of houses/hotels. It is as follows:
To build a house, it costs $150 per house that you construct. To build a hotel, it costs 3 houses + $150. In order to construct a house or hotel on any property, you must own the whole block (e.g. you must own all 3 light green properties, etc.)

Each turn follows this sequence:
- Roll the Dice: The player rolls two dice and moves their token accordingly.
- Land on a Space:
- Unowned Property: The player may buy the property at its listed price. If they decline, the property goes to auction.
- Owned Property: The player must pay rent to the owner based on the deed’s rent chart.
- Chance or Community Chest: Draw a card and follow its instructions.
- Income Tax/Luxury Tax: Pay the required amount to the bank.
- Free Parking: No action unless using house rules.
- Go to Jail: Move directly to jail and do not collect $200 for passing GO.
- Jail: Players in jail must roll doubles, use a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, or pay $150 to be released.
- Buying and Trading Properties:
- Players may buy and sell properties with each other at any time.
- Mortgaged properties can be traded but must be unmortgaged before rent can be collected.
- Building Houses and Hotels:
- A full colour set/block is required before building houses.
- Houses must be built evenly across properties in a color group.
- A property with three houses can be upgraded to a hotel.
- Buildings must be purchased from the bank.
- Bankruptcy:
- If a player owes more than they can pay, they must sell houses, mortgage properties, or trade with other players.
- If they still cannot pay, they are bankrupt and removed from the game. Their assets are given to the creditor or auctioned by the bank.
