Amend the Budget Act​

Preamble: In the status quo, the law does not define an account that should be fined in the event that the government loses a court case. This, in turn, has disproportionately put a strain on the Ministry of Justice, who has borne the brunt of paying court-mandated fines on behalf of the Azalea Isles. This Act seeks to define the non-allocated government treasury as the source to pay fines, settlements, and other court-mandated and court-related fees.

1. Short Title and Enactment
(a) This bill shall be referred to as the "Legal Fees Clarity Amendment".
(b) This bill was authored by PM Lil Digi & Phoenix Flamesong


2. Addition of Section 6 to the Budget Act

6. Court-related Discretionary Funds

a. The Prime Minister & Minister of Justice shall be authorized to utilize non-allocated funds from the Treasury of the Azalea Isles to pay court-ordered fines levied against the Azalea Isles or any of its executive ministries.
(i) Non-court ordered payments related to Government legal proceedings, such as settlements and witness fees, may also draw from this discretionary pool, but require approval from the Prime Minister.
(ii) All approvals of payment shall be documented in the same channel outlined in section 4 of this bill.
b. Any usage of non-discretionary funds is subject to the same regulations outlined in section 4 of this bill.

Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon passage
