Preamble:
The Azalea Isles deserve leaders wholly committed to our nation’s service. This bill ensures that those in key roles dedicate themselves solely to the Isles, barring them from holding office in foreign governments to uphold our integrity and focus.
1. Definition of Key Positions and Foreign Office
(a) A "key position" in the Azalea Isles includes Members of Parliament (MPs), Ministers, the Prime Minister, Justices of the Supreme Court, and any other role appointed by Parliament or the Crown with significant governmental authority.
(b) A "foreign office" is any elected or appointed role in another nation’s government with significant governmental authority (e.g., MP, Minister, Judge, President).
2. Prohibition on Dual Office
(a) No citizen may hold a key position in the Azalea Isles while also holding a foreign office.
(b) By applying for or accepting a key position, a citizen certifies they do not hold a foreign office.
3. Verification and Reporting
(a) The Ministry of Justice may investigate claims of dual office, requesting proof (e.g., screenshots, server records) from the citizen or other nations.
(b) Citizens may report suspected breaches to the Ministry with evidence, triggering an investigation within 72 hours.
4. Penalties for Violation
(a) Holding a foreign office while in a key position is a breach of duty, punishable by:
(i) Immediate removal from the Azalean key position.
(ii) A $5,000 fine.
(iii) A ban from running for or holding key positions for 6 months (three election cycles).
5. Enforcement
(a) The Ministry of Justice oversees investigations and enforces penalties, reporting findings to Parliament.
6. Enactment
This Act shall take effect immediately upon passage.
