Preamble: Numerous citizens put great time and effort into making Azalea the finest nation in the world. This act recognises their efforts and establishes a legal basis for their usage.
1. Awarded Titles
(a) At the end of a Parliamentary Term, the final act taken by the incumbent Prime Minister will be to grant up to 3 titles to Azalean Citizens.
(i) These may be up to 1 Lord/Lady, and 2 Sir/Dame’s.
(ii) Previous Prime Ministers will be granted the option to grant these titles upon the bills passage.
(b) Parliament may honour a single citizen per term with a supermajority vote.
(i) This individual will be granted the use of Sir / Dame.
3. Automatic Entitlement
(a) Some Titles are automatically earnt based on career achievements.
(b) Members of the Judiciary appointed to the Supreme Court of Azalea will be entitled to be referred to as “Lord” or “Lady”.
(i) Members who choose to retire will keep this entitlement, those removed by Parliament will not.
(c) MPs who serve more than 2 full terms in the House will be referred to as “The Honourable … MP”
(i) Upon leaving Parliament, they will keep “The Honourable” even though they are no longer an MP.
4. Rescindment
(a) Those found guilty of Treason will immediately lose any right to be referred to by their honorific.
(b) Honorifics can be revoked by a Parliamentary Supermajority.
Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon passage.
