Legalize Adoption​

Preamble: Azalean law allows for marriage but not for adoption. This bill allows for official adoptions to establish stronger family trees in Azalea

1․ Definitions
(a) "Adoption" is the process by which a player becomes the legal parent of another player in Azalea․
(b) "Adoptive Parent" means a player who has legally adopted another player․
(c) "Adopted Child" means any player who has been legally adopted․

2․ Legalization of Adoption
(a) Adoption is hereby recognized as a legal relationship within Azalea․
(b) An adopted child shall become a full member of the adoptive parent's family․

3․ Requirements for Adoption
(a) The adoption must be agreed to by both parties․
(b) If the adopter is legally married, the adopters spouse must also give consent.
(c) The adoption must be recorded with the appropriate authority (MOSS registery)․

4․ Rights and Responsibilities
(a) Azalean law recognizes that adopted children have the same rights as any biological children a parent may have.

5․ Record Keeping
(a) Adoptions should be formalized and entered in governmental records and registers to be legally recognized, the Ministry of Social Services should maintain a list of registered adoptions․

6. Relinquishment and Placement for Adoption
(a) A parent or legal guardian may place a child for adoption by stating an intention to terminate parental rights
(b) Where married‚ spouse's consent is also required
(c) The relinquishment is ineffective unless recorded with the appropriate authority․
(d) On registration the child is made available for adoption‚ and all previously recognized parental responsibilities pass to the subsequent adopter․
(e) Child may contest a termination of parental rights via the courts, and termination may be ruled invalid if proper reason is not provided.

Enactment: This Act shall come into force on its passage․
