Good afternoon,

I was never informed of this violation and did not receive any mail. I only found out about this because Joseph Anderson (lao19) informed me about unpaid fines in a voice call. I am not sure how a property owner can be expected to know that their plot has been reported if they were not @ mentioned on forums or sent mail by the reporting inspector. Additionally, the lack of a screenshot on this report made it unclear what aspect of my plot was in violation, as IKEA has stairs on most of its floors.

I only realized that the basement to events in IKEA were not connected to stairs when Anderson pointed it out to me today at the same time in the voice call. I thank him for helping me find this out, but it is my personal belief as a citizen that this is now how folks should find out about their property violations. Here is the new staircase I built after being informed only today:

It is always my intent to comply with the property regulations, but I cannot rectify any potential violations if I am unaware of them. I'd like to know if the Ministry of Urban Development can confirm if its typical policy to not send mail to the violating property owner and to not provide screenshots of the violation. If so, how does the Ministry currently expect property owners to stay informed as to the reporting?

Best regards,

Raymond West
