Author: Lysander Lyon, MP
Sponsor: N/A
Type: Act of Parliament
Preamble: There is currently a lack of clarity around how repealed bills should be treated if the bill repealing them is itself repealed. This bill shall clarify that.
1. Short Title and Enactment
(a) This bill shall be referred to as the "Repealed Legislation Act".
(b) This bill was authored by Lysander Lyon, MP.
2. Handling Repeals
(a) If a bill that repealed another bill is itself repealed later, the repeal shall remain in effect. That is to say: if Bill C repeals Bill B, and Bill B had previously repealed Bill A, Bill A will not be reinstated upon the repeal of Bill B.
(b) For a repealed bill to be reinstated, legislation must specifically mention that the bill is to be reinstated. Otherwise, it shall remain repealed.
Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon passage.
