Preamble:
The Azalea Isles have a proud history and strong community worth celebrating. This bill sets up national holidays to mark key moments and values that define our nation, bringing us together as one.
1. Definition of a National Holiday
A national holiday within the Azalea Isles is hereby defined as a day designated by Parliament for celebration, remembrance, or recognition of significant events, values, or contributions to the nation’s history and identity.
2. Establishment of National Holidays
The following days are hereby established as national holidays in the Azalea Isles:
(i) Founding Day – May 3rd: A day to celebrate the establishment of the Azalea Isles as a beacon of hope and endeavor under the Crown’s aegis.
(ii) Crown Day – July 15th: A day to honor the unbreakable bond between the Azalea Isles and the Kingdom of Regalis, reaffirming our loyalty to the Queen.
(iii) Harvest Festival – First Friday of September: A day to rejoice in the bounty of our fields and the labor of our farmers, marking the richness of our land.
(iv) Unity Day – November 2nd: A day to celebrate the spirit of democracy and the signing of our Constitution, uniting all citizens in shared purpose.
(v) Guardians’ Day – December 5th: A day to pay tribute to the bravery and vigilance of the Azalean National Guard, who stand as sentinels of our safety.
3. Observance of National Holidays
(a) The Ministry of Events and Culture shall be responsible for organizing public celebrations, events, and activities to mark each national holiday, ensuring they reflect the spirit and significance of the occasion.
(b) The Crown may issue proclamations or participate in observances as deemed fitting, honoring the traditions of the Azalea Isles and the Kingdom of Regalis.
(c) Parliament may convene special sessions on national holidays to deliver addresses, pass resolutions, or engage in ceremonial proceedings, at the discretion of the Speaker.
(d) All citizens are encouraged to join in the festivities, contribute to community events, and reflect on the values embodied by each holiday.
4. Amendments and Future Designations
(a) Parliament may, by a simple majority vote, amend this Act to add, remove, or modify national holidays through subsequent legislation, ensuring the calendar reflects the evolving identity of the Azalea Isles.
(b) Proposals for new holidays or changes to existing ones shall be submitted to the Ministry of Events and Culture for review and recommendation to Parliament.
5. Enactment
This Act shall take effect immediately upon passage.
