Preamble: The authority of local ordinances is phrased in a conflictory manner within the Act. This amendment seeks to resolve the conflict.
1. Short Title
(a) This bill shall be referred to as the “Local Ordinance Amendment”.
(b) This bill was authored by Lysander Lyon.
2. The Amendment
(a) Section 4(b)iii shall be added to the Local Representation Act, as follows: “The above descriptions are not restrictive. Local ordinances may be used as local legislation, so long as it does not conflict with district referendums, national law, does not attempt to create new crimes or interfere with existing ones, and does not attempt to interfere with responsibilities assigned by national law.”
Enactment: This Amendment comes into force immediately upon its passage.
