Amend the Definition of Contempt of Parliament​

Preamble: Contempt of Parliament needs a clearer description.

1. Short Title
(a) This bill shall be referred to as the “Hold No Contempt Amendment”.
(b) This bill was authored by Lysander Lyon.

2. The Amendment
(a) The New Criminal Code Act, section 11(e), shall be amended as follows:

(e) Contempt of Parliament
(i) Offense Type: Misdemeanor
(ii) Penalty
(1) Person - 10 minutes jail time; $2,500 fine
(2) Legal Entity - $5,000 fine
(iii) A person or legal entity commits an offense if they:
(1) fail to respond within 48 hours to a Parliamentary inquiryhearing; or
(2) fail to clearly answer a question asked of them in a Parliamentary hearing within 48 hours

Enactment: This Amendment comes into force immediately upon its passage.
