TO
Amend Voter and Candidate Requirements in the
Constitution

PREAMBLE: This bill ensures that both voters and candidates are connected to and members in good standing within the community.


1. Voting Requirements

(a) Have a cumulative playtime of at least six (6) hours and a monthly playtime of at least two (2) hours, excluding any hours gained in the 7 day period that ends with the closure of voting.

2. Qualifications to Run
(a) Own or rent a property within Azalea Isles as a resident.

(b) Be a citizen of Azalea Isles more than two (2) weeks prior to the electoral period.

(c) Have a cumulative playtime of at least ten (10) hours and a monthly playtime of at least four (4) hours, excluding any hours gained in the 7 day period leading up to the opening of voting.

(d) Be not convicted of any crimes with adjudicated punishments that disqualify them from public office in accordance with the law.


3. Oath of Office

(a) Upon being elected members of parliament may take an oath of office on discord or in-game by a representative of the crown.
(b) The oath shall be as follows: "Do you solemnly affirm that you will support and defend the Constitution of the Azalea Isles against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that you take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that you will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you are about to enter.”
(c) Members may affirm the oath with either 'I do' or by repeating it in the affirmative.
(d) This oath shall be purely ceremonial and shall serve no legal purpose.

4. Enactment

This amendment will be enacted following passage and a successful referendum.
