PUT PARLIAMENT IN CHARGE OF REFUGEE AND ASLYUM CLAIMS


Preamble: This Act creates better parliamentary oversight over the admission and legal status of foreign nationals seeking refugee or asylum status within our country.

1. Definitions
(a) ""Mass asylum"" under this Act is defined as any single policy or order intended to admit a group of twenty-five (25) or more foreign nationals simultaneously.
(b) ""Executive Branch"" refers to the relevant authorities tasked with border enforcement and processing.

2. Legal Status and Parliamentary Authorization
(a) The Executive Branch shall not grant permanent legal refugee status or mass asylum to any group or foreign nationals without a direct authorizing vote and resolution passed by the Parliament.
(b) The Executive Branch may grant temporary protected status to foreign nationals fleeing immediate conflict or natural disasters for a period not to exceed 30 days.
(i) Any extension of temporary protected status beyond 30 days requires an authorizing resolution passed by Parliament.

3. Enforcement
(a) Any foreign national currently residing in the Azalea Isles under a claim of refugee or asylum status that has not met the requirements of Section 1 shall be subject to removal from the country.
(b) The Executive Branch is mandated to provide reports at least once per term to Parliament detailing the number of current temporary residents and successful deportations.

Enactment: This Act comes into force one weeks after the passage
