Type: Act of Parliament
Preamble: Parliament has a sizable amount of legislation that is difficult to navigate through. A formal organizational structure must be established.
1. Short Title & Enactment
(a) This bill shall be referred to as the “Archives of Parliament Act”.
(b) This bill was authored by Lysander Lyon.
2. The Archivist
(a) Parliament may appoint any citizen to the role of Parliamentary Archivist.
(b) The Archivist shall be responsible for creating entries under the Acts of Parliament section of the forums for newly ratified bills; adding amendments underneath bills being amended; changing existing bills’ text when amended by a new bill; and maintaining a cohesive tagging system for Acts of Parliament.
(c) The Archivist shall be paid a salary of $25 per 20 minutes.
(d) If no Archivist has been appointed, the responsibility for these duties shall remain with the Parliamentary Steward, who may be supported by the Speaker and the presiding office.
(e) The Archivist is nominated by the Speaker of Parliament and confirmed by a simple majority of Parliament, following a minimum 24 hour discussion period upon the nomination being made.
(f) The Archivist may be dismissed by Parliament at any time, following a motion being made to remove the Archivist, with a second to support the motion.
(i) Such a motion may only be made once every two weeks.
(g) The Archivist is not dismissed with the dissolution of Parliament, but serves in the role indefinitely.
3. Subversion of Duties
(a) If the Archivist intentionally abuses the powers of the position to manipulate legislative text, this shall be treated as Corruption.
Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon passage.
