Author: Fauz Wolfe MP
Sponsor: N/A
Type: Act of Parliament
Preamble:
This act serves as a means for the Ministry of Justice to prosecute offenders whose crimes warrant a jail time equaling or exceeding the life sentence. This is especially helpful in situations with repeat offenders, for example, serial killers. The Ministry of Justice may also prosecute offenders who are considered violent or problem offenders, even if they do not quite reach the criteria below. Previously, it was standard to prosecute offenders when they met a certain jail time/fine criteria, but this was since removed. This act reintroduces that standard.
1. Definitions
(a) “Life Sentence”
(i) Life Sentence shall be defined as a jail time equaling or exceeding 60 minutes.
(b) Repeat Offender
(i) Repeat Offender shall be defined as an offender whose individual crime’s jail time equals to or exceeds the Life Sentence. For example, if an offender commits 6 murders, they would be considered a repeat offender, as the jail time would equal 60 minutes (10 minute per murder)
2. Situations Warranting Prosecution
(a) Repeat Offender
(i) Any offender whose crimes amount to the life sentence from a single arrest/incident will face prosecution.
Enactment: This Act comes into force immediately upon royal assent.
