Welcome to the Brewer Guide! As a profession, you can complete an exam for this in addition to your trade job at the university. Note that professions are different from trade jobs - they don't have quests, and the exams are more challenging.
The drinks that you brew from these recipes can provide a mixed back of opportunity. Some drinks offer helpful effects that can be used while fighting mobs or players, whereas other drinks can sometimes make you dizzy.
Crops
For some recipes, you may encounter some of CityRP's custom crops in the mix. This includes components like vanilla beans in a French Vanilla Coffee, or hops in the Estella Artist. These custom crops cannot be farmed by a non-farmer, so you'll need to buy them from a business who employs farmers on the server.
Ingredient Drinks
Once you've got to brewing, you'll find that some brew recipes are also ingredients for other brews. These will be listed under the "Drink Bases" category for recipes.
Brewing Cauldron: Start Here
The cauldron is where it all begins. To brew, you'll need a cauldron placed over a fire source. A lit netherrack or campfire works best. Place the cauldron one block above the flame and fill it with water. Each cauldron can brew up to three drinks at once, so make sure you’re ready to go!
Clock: Tracking the Brews
You'll need to craft a clock in order to track how long your drink has been brewing in the cauldron. Once you've crafted a clock, simply click on the cauldron with the clock in your hand in order to find out how long it has been brewing for.
Brewing Stand: For Distillation
Some drinks need to be distilled. To do this, you’ll need a brewing stand. Place glowstone dust in the top slot, then put the bottles containing your brewed drinks in the stand. Once you've placed a brew in the brewing stand, it will distill itself automatically until it has met the required amount of distill runs. Keep in mind that some brews do not require any distillation.
Wood Planks & Barrels: Aging Your Brews
Aging is the secret to perfect brews. To age them, you’ll need barrels. It is important to remember that these barrels are different from the ones you would use as containers. There are two types you can use here:
Place the drinks inside the barrel and wait. As they age, their quality improves.
Sealing Table: Locking In Quality
Once you have finished the process of making your drinks, you’ll need to seal them. A sealing table is crafted with 4 planks and 2 empty glass bottles. When ready, place your drinks within the sealing table to lock in their freshness.

Aging is the secret to perfect brews. To age them, you’ll need barrels. It is important to remember that these barrels are different from the ones you would use as containers. There are two types you can use here:
- Small Barrel: Crafted using 8 wooden stairs, it’s small enough to keep in your home or shop.
- Large Barrel: This takes more effort—1 fence, 16 wooden stairs, and 18 wood planks—but it holds more drinks. Each year of aging takes 20 minutes in real time, the same as a full Minecraft day.
Place the drinks inside the barrel and wait. As they age, their quality improves.
